NH Blackburst

Inspired by Bernd Kiltz’s NH1, this beauty was also conceived with sustainability at its core: it features entirely domestic tonewoods, while the hardware, pickups, tuners are all “Made in Germany.” Why look further afield when we can find (almost) everything needed for a fine guitar right on our doorstep?
The foundation consists of a Hessian red cedar body with a maple burl drop-top (sourced from the “Penny parking lot” in Mehlingen), paired with a neck made of Neustadt maple and cherry. We crafted the fretboard from SaRaiFo (“Save the Rain Forest”) material. This consists of fast-growing woods—such as bamboo—that undergo a special lamination and dyeing process, making them visually almost indistinguishable from genuine ebony.
The result is stunning, even when played unplugged! The sound is incredibly clear and transparent, offering endless overtones without delivering harsh, annoying high frequencies. It is also extremely lightweight and highly resonant, providing lightning-fast, precise response along with long, balanced sustain.
When plugged into an amp, the hand-wound Häussel pickups perfectly showcase this fundamental character. The tone remains consistently clear and transparent—warm and full-bodied, yet never muddy. With its HSH pickup configuration and coil-splitting capabilities for both humbuckers, this guitar offers exceptional sonic versatility.
The hardware—supplied by Schaller and ABM—is also German-made and represents some of the highest quality on the market; crucially, it is manufactured in compliance with German production and environmental standards, without the use of low-wage labor.
By utilizing short supply chains with local producers and powering our workshop with green electricity, we ensure the smallest possible carbon footprint.
