Customized Saber

We built this red lady from our custom shop specifically at Felix’s request! The model was of course the classic Saber design with the super flat contoured body. Felix’ dream guitar didn’t exist “off the peg” and that’s how he found his way to us. The most important thing was that his guitar should have a fixed bridge and only 22 stainless steel frets. No problem for us, of course! The choice of the bridge fell on the modern Gotoh 510FX with string-through-body. The locking tuners, also from Gotoh, in combination with the Graphtech Black Tusq nut ensure best tuning stability. The neck profile should be very thin at 19mm and is based on the Wizard II profile. Felix wanted the wood grain to be nicely flatsawn on the neck and fretboard, and it should be roasted maple. Not so easy to find! Finally, with Felix’ support, we were able to find a nice piece. Due to the low neck thickness, we installed two carbon rods under the fingerboard for more stability.
The sound is converted by the two Bareknuckle Black Dog humbuckers, which ensure a nice throaty growl with a good punch, but always remain well defined. When it comes to electronics, less is more: A volume with push-push pickup selector – that’s it!
The finish is definitely an eye-catcher: we applied tiny Micro Sparkle Metal Flakes over a black primer and tinted them with a dark red transparent varnish to get this rich oxblood red. A Foxy Lady!
