We selected Red Cedar for the body of this Cupido. Technically a member of the *Thuja* genus — a type of conifer — it is exceptionally lightweight and resonant. This Cupido tips the scales at just 3.2 kg — a true lightweight for a single-cut design!
For the top, we used “Mystery Burl” of absolute premium quality. We discovered this stunning wood among the remaining stock of a veneer mill; unfortunately, no one has yet been able to tell us exactly what species it is 😉 The fretboard features roughly 2,000-year-old bog oak with wood binding, while the neck is crafted from walnut with a central strip of bog oak for reinforcement and added stability.
A pair of pickups by Harry Häussel delivers a creamy tone. The “Classic” humbucker set represents Harry’s take on the quintessential PAF sound — wonderfully open and transparent, with silky highs and plenty of warmth and woody character. It offers a truly luscious tone that is simply addictive — ideal for classic rock and blues styles.
The slightly longer 25″ (635 mm) scale length provides a bit more string tension and a punchier sound compared to traditional single-cut guitars. Additionally, the 22 mirror-polished stainless steel frets ensure incredibly smooth string bending and offer a highly nuanced playing feel. In terms of hardware, components from Schaller and ABM deliver proven quality, perfectly rounding out the design of this exquisite instrument.
