Switch No 3

The name says it all

We designed and built this extraordinary instrument for Nico Braband. Nico is a big fan of Frank Rohles and Brian May and their self-built guitars. So we took these two instruments as inspiration for Nico’s guitar and designed his personal dream guitar in close cooperation with him – in this case even the third one in the collection 🙂 Unlike the predecessor Switch 1, we have a Wilksinon VS-100 installed, which is much easier to handle than the Floyd Rose system. We have also installed it floating, so that bends work in both directions and in combination with a perfectly notched bone nut and locking tuners from Schaller, this system is almost as stable as a double locking vibrato. This time Nico chose a special “flip-flop” effect paint as finish, which changes color depending on the viewing angle. We painted the back completely black, the top is set off by a natural binding. The hollowbody construction does not only save weight, but also makes the sound a little more open and percussive. We built it neck-through for fast response, endless sustain and the best access to the high frets. In addition, it should be as versatile as possible in terms of sound. Therefore, at Nico’s request, we installed three Seymour Duncan Little 59 humbuckers. These are interconnected by the 3×3 minswitches in a variety of ways.
