Brown Beauty

We built these tweaksters at Martin’s request. His wish was to get THE Blues sound paired with a noble robe with a unique character. Said and done! Martin chose this spectacular quilted maple top from our wood stash and opted for a tigereye burst for the coloring. For better ergonomics and playability, we designed the top as a “drop top”. To do this, it is bent down in the area of the armrest and glued on. The body is made of red alder, subtly colored with a brown-transparent color varnish. The edges of the top were not stained, which creates a “faux” or “natural” binding all around the edge. The neck and fretboard are made from a beautifully figured piece of maple. Also subtly stained to emphasize the grain, we left the fretboard a little lighter than the back of the neck to create a contrast to the top. The 22 brightly polished stainless steel frets ensure the best playability and big bends.
The solid brass ABM bridge, the Schaller locking tuners and the rest of the hardware is completely gold-plated. The hand-wound Barfuss TE Blues pickups take care of the sonic conversion. In order to be able to do without the pickguard (that would have been a shame with this wonderful top!) we have done the cavity and installation of the neck pickup from the back of the body, which underlines the clean look again.
