Pink Panther

The evolution of a classic design. A symbiosis of high-tech and handcraftsmanship, vintage and modern – in this case, custom-built to Simon’s specifications. We’ve slightly tapered the classic S-shaped design and made some of the curves (in our opinion) a bit more elegant and modern. The Shell Pink finish is traditionally applied with nitrocellulose lacquer, while the rest of the bridge features only modern elements.

The ABM bridge with its solid sustain block and steel saddles delivers the necessary twang with beautiful overtones and rich sustain. The string spacing on this bridge is about 2mm narrower than on the classic version, giving the string more clearance from the fretboard edge and preventing it from slipping during bends. This is a significant advantage, especially with the polished stainless steel frets. The Schaller locking tuners, combined with the polished bone nut, ensure excellent tuning stability.

The Kinman pickups deliver an authentic vintage sound with complete hum-free operation. Since the volume knob often gets in the way on the classic S-shaped neck, we omitted the second tone knob and moved the volume knob one position back. This frees up the playing hand. The neck pickup can be engaged in any position via a push-push function on the tone knob, providing even more tonal options.

For the wood selection, we opted for the classic alder/flamed maple combination. However, both are thermally treated (“roasted”). This process reduces the wood’s weight by approximately 10% and essentially ages it artificially. This makes it highly resonant, warp-resistant, and relatively impervious to weathering. Especially with the oiled neck, this is a real game-changer!
