We built this hollow body jazz guitar for Dominique. He had some special ideas in mind when he visited our workshop and at the end of a long planning and consultation process, the concept for this unique guitar was created.
The starting point was a 15″ wide body that was to be a little smaller and more compact than the “big” 16 or 17″. With a 6.5cm side height, it’s not quite as deep, the scale length was shortened to the typical Gibson 24.75″. To minimize the risk of feedback in live use, it also had to do without F-holes. Nevertheless, a sound was desired that lacked nothing in terms of warmth, fullness and jazz-typical “mellowness”. Not an easy task, but one that we mastered to Dominique’s complete satisfaction!
Alpine spruce was used for the top, crafted from a solid piece down to the last detail. Two parallel braces reinforce it on the inside and absorb the tension and pressure of the strings and bridge. The mahogany sides absorb the forces and transfers them to a crafted mahogany back.
Finally, we designed the neckjoint as a classic dovetail, the end of the fingerboard is solidly connected to the top. Ebony was used for the bridge and tailpiece, which in this combination delivers a wonderfully warm tone. />
The two Benedetto A6 humbuckers provide the electrical reproduction and round off the concept in terms of sound, so that even with amplified sounds nothing is left to be desired.
