Electro-Spanish classic

We built this interpretation of 335 design from the 50s at Frank’s request. Our goal was to capture the spirit of this classic and convey it in a modern guitar. Of course, Frank had some wishes in order to optimally adapt the guitar to his needs. At the beginning there was the choice of wood, because unlike the original, this guitar was to be built from completely solid wood. So mahogany was our choice for the body and core, Canadian maple for the top and back. The neck was also made of maple, and local plum was used for the fingerboard as a replacement for Rio rosewood – still an insider tip among fingerboard materials, but completely wrongly in my opinion.
The pickups were hand-wound by Harry Häussel and are intended to recreate the 1959 PAF sound as best as possible. For the electronics, of course, only braided shield wire was used, CTS potentiometers and a solid Switchcraft switch and output jack. For more versatility, we have given both pickups a coil split via two push-pull switches in the tone pot.
A modern roller bridge from Schaller was used, which in combination with the locking tuners ensures the best tuning stability. Further upgrades include the 2-way truss rod, the volute at the transition between the neck and headstock for more stability and stainless steel frets for absolutely wear-free playing and smooth bendings. The fretboard radius was also designed as a 12-16″ compound.
Frank’s mobility of the gripping hand is somewhat limited, so we made the neck extra wide (50mm at the saddle). As a small personal touch and eye-catcher, Frank’s initials “FS” were inlayed into the fingerboard at the 5th fret.
The bright red finish of the body with the cream-colored bindings is a real eye-catcher and the oiled neck ensures the best feel and pleasantly natural playing feel.
This is what we mean by custom shop: here you get YOUR guitar – without compromise!
