Cupido Bluebird

Still got the Blues

We designed and built this Cupido specifically for Harald! We selected premium Cedro for both the body and the neck. Cedro (also known as Spanish Cedar) is a relative of mahogany; however, it is significantly lighter, placing it—both tonally and visually—in the same realm as the Swietenia mahogany used for the legendary single-cut guitars of the 1950s. Consequently, this Cupido weighs in at just 3.2 kg—a true lightweight for a single-cut model! For the top, we used a beautiful piece of Bosnian flamed maple, while the fretboard features “Golden Ebony.” Two Harry Häussel pickups deliver a creamy tone; both are mounted with ebony rings to match the fretboard. A 5-way Megaswitch offers a wide range of sounds, extracting the maximum potential from the two humbuckers. The overall tonal character is very “woody,” earthy, and warm, featuring immediate response along with endless sustain and resonance. It produces beautifully shimmering overtones and brilliant highs, ensuring the sound never becomes muddy—making it ideal for jazz and blues styles. The slightly longer 25″ (635 mm) scale length provides increased string tension and a punchier sound compared to traditional single-cut guitars. Additionally, the 24 mirror-polished stainless steel frets ensure incredibly smooth bending and offer a highly nuanced playing feel. On the hardware front, components from Schaller and ABM deliver proven quality, perfectly rounding out the design of this exquisite instrument.
